I have a pug who is on the smaller side (for now). I got a small. I love that the Velcro goes large enough to wrap around a smaller dog, but if he grows it will still be fine without having to purchase a bigger one. It's perfect. And so cute.

I returned this item because my dog swam better and could actually float with the life jacket off. My dog is a healthy Shih Tzu that can swim but not as well as some of the larger breeds so I got this life jacket for the extra floatation. This life jacket did not work at all, it seemed like he was sinking when trying to swim with it on. I would not recommend this item..
